How do you know what you don’t know? #1

How do you know what you don’t know? is about spreading some of the things that I am finding useful and sharing it in an easily accessible and digestible way.

All Geographers
For all geographers - based on bigger ideas, and everyday geographies.
I am starting 2022 with some positive geographies! Who has the ‘most young people’, and who has the ‘highest life expectancy’?
IB DP Geographers
Something that is more focused on the needs of IB DP geographers, educators, and students.
Where Does Stormwater Go?
I am currently covering the Freshwater unit with my DP1 class. Therefore, I am reflecting on what I have done before, checking links, and adding new resources to geographyalltheway.com. I found this video useful when looking at the link between urbanization, and flood risk. Most of our students live in urban areas but few have thought about how the drainage system around/beneath them works.
The Practical Engineering channel is worth a look for other useful videos. It has nearly two and a half million subscribers!
Updates
A quick update on something I am working on.
I use Trello or organise my lessons, reflect on lessons, and store the ‘new’ resources and materials I find.
I publicly share my DP1 lesson schedule via Trello here. It may be useful for fellow educators interested in how I pace, and deliver the content. My Higher Level students get three ninety minute lessons a week, and Standard Level students attend two of them.
Random
Probably a bit techie, an app, an online service, or similar.
I said this section would be a little random! I am an ‘Apple user’ - iPhone, iPad, and MacBook (but teach nearly exclusively using a Chromebook).
I love to cook. Mela is a recent find - a really good recipe manager from Silvio Rizzi, the developer of my RSS client of choice Reeder.

The first item will be for all geographers based on bigger ideas and everyday geographies. The idea behind the second item is something that is more focused on the needs of IB DP geographers, educators and students. The item will be linked to the syllabus but other geography educators and students may find it useful too. The third section is a quick update on something I am working on. New content added to, or refreshed on geographyalltheway, something I have recently written, or am involved in. The fourth and final item will be a bit more random. It will be a recommendation. Probably a bit techie, an app, an online service, or similar.

The ‘How do you know what you don’t know?’ newsletter is free, and isn’t (just) for geographyalltheway subscribers. I will try to keep the links to content behind the geographyalltheway.com paywall to an absolute minimum!
