I have been reflecting on the places that are explored in the resources I use in the classroom. I am finding that I am turning to the UN’s ‘Geographic Regions’ more and more as a way of dividing countries into regions.
You can find one of the uses I am making of the regions here on geographyalltheway.com. I have categorised resources using the regions. It would seem that I need to develop more resources focused on South America and Middle Africa!
Updates
The gatw Spring Break Menu - geographyalltheway.com
I do not like to set ‘homework’ during the holidays. The students need a break. What I have developed in the past and have recently updated is the gatw Spring Break Menu. An optional ‘menu’ of activities that students can choose to participate in, ranging from podcasts to listen to, books to read, and Netflix documentaries to watch.
Random
Get right to the good stuff
I use Pocket everyday. I use it as a ‘read it later’ service. If I find something interesting in a blog, on Twitter etc I send it to Pocket. When I get a little time, with a cup of tea (usually), I will go through what I have added to Pocket. Some content gets deleted straight away, some gets read there and then in Pocket (and then maybe deleted), and useful resources and ideas get sent on to Trello (more about Trello in the future) where I reflect upon and develop the resources on geographyalltheway.com.

How do you know what you don’t know? is about spreading some of the things that I am finding useful and sharing it in an easily accessible and digestible way.

The first item will be for all geographers based on bigger ideas and everyday geographies. The idea behind the second item is something that is more focused on the needs of IB DP geographers, educators and students. The item will be linked to the syllabus but other geography educators and students may find it useful too. The third section is a quick update on something I am working on. New content added to, or refreshed on geographyalltheway, something I have recently written, or am involved in. The fourth and final item will be a bit more random. It will be a recommendation. Probably a bit techie, an app, an online service, or similar.

The ‘How do you know what you don’t know?’ newsletter is free, and isn’t (just) for geographyalltheway subscribers. I will try to keep the links to content behind the geographyalltheway.com paywall to an absolute minimum!
