All Geographers
To keep on top of developing news stories that may be useful to the teaching of geography I follow a lot of blogs. I use a service called Feedly to do so - using Reeder on my Mac, iPhone and iPad to read them.
Here are a couple of articles that I came across this week that I thought others may find useful:
Number of babies born in Japan falls to record low 811,604 in 2021 - Japan Today
‘Greening’ of the Alps is visible from space - SWI swissinfo.ch
IB DP Geographers
DP Category 1 Geography Online workshop - 2 to 4 September 2022
I am leading a Category 1 DP Geography workshop, online, for teachers new to DP Geography. If you are just starting teaching DP Geography, or you have somebody new joining your department, then this workshop is there for you/or them.
Hopefully the next Category 2 workshop I will be leading, in February time, will be face-to-face. Bookmark the InThinking website and keep checking for when the 2023 dates.

Swiss IB Geography Teachers Network LinkedIn Group
To facilitate the networking of the Swiss IB Geography Teachers Network and to help organise the annual meeting I have created a dedicated LinkedIn group. This will be the one place for all things Swiss and DP Geography based.
If you are an DP Geography teacher working in Switzerland - or close to Switzerland’s border - please join the group!

Authy | Two-factor Authentication (2FA) App & Guides
More and more online services are using ‘authenticator apps’ as part of ‘two factor authentication’ (2FA). The app that Google offers is great - however it doesn’t sync therefore should you lose your phone (or get a new one) you will need to have the ‘emergency codes’, etc, to access the services protected by 2FA. Authy allows you to sync your 2FA set ups and therefore is my app of choice at the moment.

How do you know what you don’t know? is about spreading some of the things that I am finding useful and sharing it in an easily accessible and digestible way.

The first item will be for all geographers based on bigger ideas and everyday geographies. The idea behind the second item is something that is more focused on the needs of IB DP geographers, educators and students. The item will be linked to the syllabus but other geography educators and students may find it useful too. The third section is a quick update on something I am working on. New content added to, or refreshed on geographyalltheway, something I have recently written, or am involved in. The fourth and final item will be a bit more random. It will be a recommendation. Probably a bit techie, an app, an online service, or similar.

The ‘How do you know what you don’t know?’ newsletter is free, and isn’t (just) for geographyalltheway subscribers. I will try to keep the links to content behind the geographyalltheway.com paywall to an absolute minimum!
